With Our Iron Teeth
This piece revolves around the battling between "metal" and "human" sides through the sampling of various cello and vocal recordings along with electronic synthesis manipulation. By using sound synthesis techniques such as additive and granular synthesis and basic modulating techniques to a short cello sample, I created the scratchy, metallic-like motif that is present through the climatic points of the piece, most notably the ending. The piece swells to quite chaotic drops numerous times throughout to convey the internal warfare between the contrasting sides.
Largo for Flute and Piano
The piece begins in Messian’s Mode 2, but as the narrative progresses, the mode begins to shift and combine Mode 1 as well. I was more focused on the flowing, creatively articulate narrative between the flute and piano than what chord progressions I was using, but I was able to use my understanding of the modes of limited transposition to consolidate melody and harmony, therefore making it a unified whole.

This was a steampunk-bass song written for a short video showcasing local Perth artist Troy Morrison’s work, ‘Darcy’s Horse'.

Allay
An experimental electronic lyrical work, 'Allay' explores the blurring of lines between mind and body through vulnerability between two people. Floating synths set the transcendental mood while wine rim and glass tap samples add a gritty edge.

The Underbelly of Love
The piece is inspired by Wagner's leitmotifs to convey the experience of "love" over life. How at first it seems idealistic and sweet, but as we go through heartbreak and loss, it slowly shows its dark underbelly.
